Are you wondering which public schools are friendly to out of state students? Here are the most out-of-state friendly public medical schools in the US.

1. University of Vermont College of Medicine
Roughly 90% of the students they interview are not from Vermont. Its tuition for in-state students is $30,940 and for out-of-state students is $54,160

2. West Virginia University School of Medicine
Most of the students that interview at West Virginia University School of Medicine are out of state. The school has three different campuses in Morgantown, Eastern, and Charleston.

3. University of Michigan Medical School
Almost 70% of the students that interview at University of Michigan's medical school do not live in Michigan. It's also one of the top medical schools in the U.S., ranked 12th in research and 8th in primary care for US News.

4. University of Virginia School of Medicine
Like University of Michigan, 70% of the applicants that get interviews from UVA are out of state. There's actually not much of a difference between the in-state and out-of-state tuition for UVA (~$47,000 vs $57,000).

5. Eastern Virginia Medical School
60% of the interviewers here are out-of-state. Located in Norfolk, Virginia, Eastern Virginia Medical School's matriculants have a median GPA and MCAT of 3.66 and 32 respectively.

6. University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine
This school is actually not in Missouri; it's in Kansas City, Kansas. 60% of the interviewers here do not live in Kansas.  The median GPA and MCAT for matriculants is 3.7 and 28 respectively. It's almost double the tuition for an out-of-state student however at $60,000 vs $30,000.

The last four schools usually have at least 50% of their interviews spots reserved for out-of-state students.

7. Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine
The tuition difference between in-state and out-of-state students here is not that much different: $45,000 vs $53,000. Unfortunately the tuition even for a Pennsylvania resident is almost the cost of a private school.

8. Ohio State University College of Medicine
It's great to be an Ohio resident and go to Ohio State. You would only need to pay $30,000. If you're not from Ohio, you pay $47,000.

9. Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine
Interested in primary care? Oregon's medical school is one of the best programs in the nation for primary care. However if you're not from Oregon, you'll have to pay about $53,000.

10. University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine
If you love potatoes and medicine, this might be the school for you. The median GPA and MCAT score of matriculants is 3.8 and 33.
